Having spent the past two weeks in Regina, Saskatchewan dabbling in the -30 degree Celsius range, a blissful return to the warmth of Victoria, BC was really, really nice.
Breakfast Lasagna
This actually happened, but I think it could happen better. My family had a leftover veggie lasagna that we all decided would make a nice alternative to cereal or bacon and eggs one morning. This was just a normal lasagna. But a lasagna made of breakfast foods? That’d be Grrr-eat! Crepes instead of lasagna noodles; eggs instead of ricotta or cottage cheese; crumbled bacon instead of ground beef; spinach as usual; melty cheese as usual… et voila!
Exchanging the Piece
People usually only do puzzles once. What about a puzzle collective where people could drop off their triumphantly completed puzzles in exchange for someone else’s equally impressive box of victory? Or maybe they bought a puzzle that was too challenging and they want something a little more attainable to build their confidence and sense of self-worth. Either way: a place to trade puzzles! Maybe even up the anti and have a little cafe where people could engage in the above-mentioned exchange and/or drink a hot drink while plugging away at a collective-effort puzzle. An alternative to reading a paper on your coffee break, or a comfortable activity for a non-chatty coffee date.
Sleeping Arrangements
The whole gang returned home for a joined Christmas and New Years celebration. Though there is an abundance of pillows and horizontal surfaces, it seems we are somewhat lacking in formal bed structures…
Northwest Leisure Centre
I began visiting the Northwest Leisure Centre 31 years ago with my kindergarten class. Maybe even earlier than that but that’s further than my memory extends. Today I worked out at the leisure centre with my
little nephew Mac. The leisure centre remains pretty much unchanged… Mac on the other hand has gone and become a teenager. 15 years and 6’3″. Wow time flies!

Dishwasher Duo
What if instead of kitchen cupboards, we all had two dishwashers? You would alternately use one machine for collecting dirty dishes and the other for storing the clean dishes. When the dirty-dish-machine was full, you would run the washing cycle and then begin using the newly-cleaned dishes from that machine. The second machine would then become the dirty-dish collector. Eureka! One would never need to unload the dishwasher again!
One minor glitch: if there are any clean dishes left in the second dishwasher, there may be an interim period where dirty dishes need to be stacked nearby until the machine is emptied.
